Congratulations to the owner, Niklas Pernvik, and crew of Najad 440 AC, Salt, on completing the 2024 Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC). They arrived in Saint Lucia on 13th December finishing 6th in Cruising Class C, 32nd in all Cruising Classes and 59th out of all boats.
On Sunday 24th November 2024, a record-breaking 45 multihulls were the first boats to cross the start line of the Atlantic Rally for Cruisers (ARC) 2024, followed by the 11-strong IRC racing fleet at 12:45 and then at 13:00 the 83 cruising yachts.
Najad 391, Arietta also did the ARC and finished on 16th December, 8th in Cruising Class D, 68th in all Cruising Classes and 116th out of all boats.
Salt came to Najad sister company, Orust Yacht Service (OYS), in autumn 2020 for some upgrades. The team at OYS replaced the old engine and sail drive with new. They also added a new folding table mounted in the galley for even more storage on board. Night lighting was mounted as per the original.
In the winter of 2022 the OYS team continued further work with replacing the blades of the bow thrusters, improving their efficiency. Various lockers, better reading lights and USB sockets for charging phones and tablets were installed. The OYS team rebuilt the old cabinet for the microwave too.
Last winter (2023), in preparation for the ARC, the team installed a watermaker, retightened the keel bolts and added a new charger / inverter and installation of lithium battery bank (Victron). Storage under deck was increased with more hatches.
